Test to monitor exposure to industrial perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl chemicals, commonly called “PFAS”.

About the Test

Human exposure to PFAS has been associated with adverse effects on the immune, endocrine, metabolic, and reproductive systems (including fertility and pregnancy outcomes), and increased risk for cancer. The term PFAS encompasses thousands of per-and polyfluoroalkyl chemicals that are widely used in consumer goods and industrial products for their non-stick properties.

Common applications include:

  • Cookware
  • Cosmetics
  • Paints
  • Fast food packaging
  • Outdoor gear
  • Carpets
  • Herbicides
  • Floor polishes
  • Firefighting agents
  • Aviation
  • Automotive
  • Electronics

The unique chemical structure of PFAS makes them difficult to break down, causing them to accumulate in the environment, wildlife, and human body for decades. Once inside the body, PFAS have a strong binding affinity to plasma and serum proteins and bioaccumulate in the blood. Studies also show the bioaccumulation of PFAS in the lungs, kidneys, liver, and bones. As individuals of all ages and stages of life are exposed to PFAS, many may benefit from monitoring their exposure to PFAS.

Which patients can benefit from the PFAS test?

The following conditions have been associated with general PFAS exposure:

  • Asthma
  • Cancer
  • Diabetes
  • Hyperlipidemia
  • Male/Female infertility
  • Kidney disease
  • Liver disease
  • Low infant birth rate
  • Obesity
  • Pre-eclampsia
  • Thyroid disease
  • Ulcerative Colitis

The Vibrant Advantage

  • Simple testing with robust results. Perform the PFAS Chemical Test in the comfort of your home.
  • The Vibrant Wellness PFAS Chemical Test is performed using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS). LC-MS methods enable analysis and identification of PFAS chemical analytes in a highly reproducible bio analytical assay with high throughput and sensitivity. Our LC-MS technology detects 21 PFAS chemicals that reflect exposure to the most common PFAS.
  • Validated and accredited. Science-backed testing and analysis based on rigorous, ongoing research by clinical experts.
